The Jazz Cannon Newsdesk.

  • Billy is currently helping to produce the new Hubcap album, their follow-up to "Halogen Sun".

  • The second Jazz Cannon album is finished. It features Billy alongside Don Greene and a new girl singer. Apparently a lot more live instrumention has been used this time around. The record is due out sometime in 2003 on an as yet unconfirmed label.

  • See Saint Low section for more news on "Piano Creeps".

  • Mary & Billy played their first gig since the birth of their son this summer in New York recently, supporting Freedy Johnston. A german language review of the show can be found online @ Gaesteliste.de Magazine.

  • The Billy & Mary album apparently has been re-titled "Piano Creeps" and is due out on January 20th on Cooking Vinyl (in Europe) and probably on SpinArt in the States.

  • Billy Cote & Mary Lorson will release their instrumental album "I Don't Want To Fight Tonight," later in 2002.

  • A new Jazz Cannon 12" vinyl only single will be released in early December on the Function 8 label. It's actually billed as Tommy Guerrero & Gadget vs. The Jazz Cannon: The "You'll Never Take Us Alive" Battle 12". On one side are the Jazz Cannon songs "Upstate Prison Style" (with Mary on drums), and "Prison Bus" (with Mary on backing vocals). On the other side are the Guerrero & Gadget songs "Running From Five-O", and "Get Out Of Jail Free Card." Billy says about the recordings: " The single is the east coast vs. west coast "trouble with the law vibe." I really like all the songs on this project, and it shows a newer direction for The Jazz Cannon, as there are more live instruments and less sampling on the tracks. It's indicative of what the next JCannon album will be like. That probably won't be out till late next year."

  • See the Saint Low section for some news on Billy Coté (although not The Jazz Cannon), too.

  • According for a spokesperson for Function 8's German distributor Zomba Records, the proposed Function 8 label tour never left the planning stages and is now unlikely to take place (in Europe at least).

  • Billy's solo debut album "Amateur Soul Surgery" will finally get a European release at the end of January, 2001.

  • There is talk of a Function 8 label tour featuring The Jazz Cannon, but no definitive plans have been made.
